Troop days and affinity camp FAQs

Troop days FAQs

What is the minimum number of campers who can come on a troop day?

The minimum number of campers for this program is five. If you register with five, but not all can attend, you must notify us of your troop’s cancellation within four weeks to receive a refund minus the deposit. The open spot will be offered to the next troop on the list.

What if I have a camper get sick the night before we’re supposed to arrive?

All cancellation requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Can I submit multiple submissions on the interest form?

Yes, however, the form will not allow for multiple submissions on a single form. Responses are recorded in order of receipt and programs are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Why are you doing an interest form instead of a normal registration?

In response to feedback from troops, we are trying to offer more intimate and intensive programming, which results in smaller capacities. We are piloting this program this year and anticipate a large volume of interest. The interest list is designed to offer a first-come, first-served registration experience. Based on registration this year, we will adapt and make changes if necessary for 2026.

I was interested in a troop day, but they are all full. Is there anything else I can do?

Yes! We have the ability to run some of these programs during the school year. Visit the properties tab on the GSCO website to find more information about booking a cabin at Sky High Ranch and utilizing our activity request form to book staff-led programming such as high ropes, zip line, etc.

I have a mixed-age troop, can we still attend?

Yes, however the minimum program level for participants in both horse program and high ropes program is Juniors and above. GSCO does not recommend signing up a multi-level troop in either the horse or high ropes program if Brownies will be present, as they will be unallowed to participate. Water programming is suitable for all ages.

Protected Peaks FAQs

What happens after I submit my interest on the form?

This is a mask-at-all times (even outdoors) camp, so families will be vetted to be eligible to attend. Groups on the interest list will be contacted by camp staff to ensure they meet the requirements for this camp before registering. Submissions will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority consideration for families who have attended/been vetted prior. If the program fills, you will be notified that you have been put on a waitlist.

Who is this camp intended for?

This camp is for medically compromised populations and all participants must agree to be masked at all times.

Are mask allies allowed to come to this camp?

Spaces are prioritized for families who require masking at all times due to significant medical need, however, if we have open spaces, we will open them up to mask allies to attend.

Why are you doing an interest list instead of normal registration?

Due to the medical sensitivity of this program, families must be vetted to ensure they are eligible to attend prior to registering.

What happens after I submit my form?

A member of the camp team will contact you to either initiate the vetting process to determine eligibility, or to let you know you are on the waitlist. If you are on the waitlist, we will contact you to vet you if spaces become available. Once you have gone through the vetting process and are eligible for the program, we will send you the link to officially register.

What ages are allowed to come to this camp?

Family camps are for all ages! Everyone is welcome as long as they can mask at all times. We do not recommend this program for families with small children or infants/toddlers due to consistent masking.

What happens if I have to cancel?

GSCO event and training refunds are given on a per-registrant basis. However, we recognize that this camp may come with a higher risk of illness for attendees and are willing to work individually with families if something should happen before the start of camp. Please reach out to skyhigh.ranch@gscolorado.org with questions or concerns about cancellations.
